Recommendations for Church Officers

Do you know someone who is a great listener, compassionate and loves to pray for others? Don’t miss the chance to encourage a Forestgate member with those gifts to serve our congregation through the Diaconate (deacons) or Session (elders). Please contribute to the care and oversight of our church by nominating gracious men of godly character for elder & deacon. We will accept nominations from any communing member of Forestgate.

All officer candidates should be spiritually discerning, above reproach, compassionate, emotionally and financially healthy, and open to being used by the Lord. (See 1 Timothy 3) Elder candidates should be servant leaders who are able to equip and care for people spiritually. Deacon candidates should have a heart for service and a practical and caring spirit. The calling to the office of elder or deacon is both internal and external, so it is OK for men to nominate themselves. The Session will provide encouragement, training and examinations prior to recommendations for congregational election. Our church flourishes with robust leadership.

In accordance with the PCA Book of Church Order, members of Forestgate Presbyterian Presbyterian Church have the privilege of nominating and electing men to the offices of Deacon and Ruling Elder who:

* You have good reason to believe meets the biblical qualifications given in 1 Timothy 3:2-13 and Titus 1:5-9.
* You have observed demonstrating either the ability or the aptitude to perform the duties of Elder or Deacon.
* Has been an active member of Forestgate.
