What to Expect at Forestgate Presbyterian Church

First time visitors to Forestgate Presbyterian Church will probably first meet one of our ushers or greeters on Sunday. These folks are members  who are very capable of answering many of our visitor questions.   You'll see a lot of people visiting and having coffee prior to the service.  Our church family knows each other well and makes use of the fellowship time before service to enjoy spending time with each other.  Help yourself to coffee or tea and get to know some of the folks prior to the start of worship at 10:30.  Everyone is welcome to join us.  You'll see everything from suits to jeans on any given Sunday.

A nursery for infants through age 3 is available for both Sunday School and worship.  Children's Church is also offered for ages 3-5, who may be dismissed to participate at a designated time during the service. The use of Nursery or Children's Church is optional.

We ask all visitors to please complete a visitor/prayer slip which is inserted in the bulletin each week.  These are collected at a designated time during the service. We'd like to be able to send you a note of welcome and include you on our email list if you so choose.  You will not be the recipient of unannounced visits, so please let us know who you are and, more importantly, how we can pray for you via the visitor slip.  You may note if your request is confidential.  Such requests are shared only with the Elders of Forestgate.

Our worship style has a specific structure, regulatory principle, or order of worship, which includes a call to worship, invocation, prelude, confession of sin, assurance of forgiveness, dedication of tithes and offerings, congregational prayer, corporate confessions of faith or responsive readings, sermon and hymns and songs of praise and benediction.  The congregation of Forestgate celebrates the Lord's Supper/Communion on the first Sunday of each month*.  Click here to see a sample Forestgate bulletin.

*We celebrate our corporate communion at a Good Friday Communion Service during the Easter Season.

At Forestgate, you will hear and sing a variety of music styles, from sacred hymns that have not changed for centuries to more contemporary worship songs from a variety of sources.  The music selected is always biblical, meaningful and in accordance with the beliefs of Forestgate.  The Forestgate choir as well as individuals in the church provide special music selections frequently throughout the year.  We have many accomplished musicians within our congregation who share their varied gifts with us to the Glory of God.

The Forestgate sanctuary is a beautiful and traditional setting, featuring natural woods and vaulted ceilings with rows of comfortable chairs.  The stained glass window which adorns the front of the sanctuary, also pictured as a background on our website, was specifically designed for Forestgate by one of our members.  The inside of our building is tastefully adorned for each season.  The attention to these details accurately reflects the creativity of our congregation.

We have a medium-sized congregation of about 200 souls of all age ranges.  We have a number of home-schooling families, but also those in public school.  The congregation maintains a prayer chain and active mercy ministries.  Fellowship events, bible studies, theater outreach, and a variety of small groups keep folks connected in body life throughout the week as a Forestgate Church Family.
