Forestgate Community Theater is based at Forestgate Presbyterian Church and is an outreach ministry of the church.  It exists to provide excellence in the theater arts within the community, to bring theater artists together, and to glorify God in this arena.

The History of Forestgate Community Theater:

It all began in the spring of 2004 with a production of Little Women directed by Joan Funke.  This was followed by A Night of Comedy in 2005, also directed by Joan.

The fall of 2006 brought an original adaptation of Anne of Green Gables to the stage, with the book, lyrics and direction by Karen Hamer, and music by musicians Jeff Tankersley, Dave Khaliqi and Stephen Baran.

Most recently, in the summer of 2008, Joan Funke directed  The Sound of Music.

Karen Hamer has written the script,  lyrics and music for this year's production of Pride and Prejudice -- which took to the stage at Forestgate November 4-14, 2009 under her production and direction.  The show received great reviews and sold out 12 of 14 performances.

A professionally recorded CD of the music from Pride and Prejudice may be ordered ($15) and T-shirts from the production ($15) may still be available for purchase.  All proceeds from sales to to Forestgate Outreach Ministries. To inquire about either of these items, please email the address below.  The Pride and Prejudice CDs are also available for purchase through the church office.

The Community Theater is presenting a one day intensive Theater Boot Camp to be held at Forestgate on Saturday, April 24th, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  This is a great workshop for those age 14 - adult with a serious interest in the performing arts.  Tuition down payment must be received by February 19th to guarantee the lower rate.  To read more, click on the Boot Camp logo.  You can also go to www.forestgatetheater.org for information as well.  Please be advised that as of the time of this posting, the dates for the boot camp were not yet corrected on the community theater website.  The confirmed date is April 24th.
